MIA Releases Three Revised Chapters of Its Dimension Stone Design Manual
CLEVELAND, OH, January 27, 2010 — The Marble Institute of America (MIA) has partnered with ASTM to offer a collection of the latest 25 ASTM standards on dimension stone design, as well as 10 technical articles from an ASTM special technical publication on the use of dimension stone in building construction.
Chuck Muehlbauer, MIA technical director, explained that, "Standards are the lifeblood of commercial construction specifications. Dozens of standards are referenced in even the simplest of specifications. Without having immediate access to these documents, the stone contractor wouldn't know what is being bid. This collection of the most pertinent stone standards is a fundamental tool in any stone contractor's library." Muehlbauer also serves as the secretary of the ASTM Committee C18 on Dimension Stone, and chair of Subcommittee C18.08 on Dimension Stone Selection.
