Oberlin, OH, USA, November 17, 2015 —The Marble Institute of America (MIA) is pleased to announce that the webinar “No Place for Complacency: Keep Safety Active” is now available for download in the MIA bookstore.

This 30 minute webinar is presented by Chad Vadnais, Director of Environmental Health & Safety for the Dal-Tile Corporation and MIA Safety Committee member. According to Vadnais, “The three keys to a safe work environment are recognition, evaluation, and control.” The webinar presents an overview of the daily hazards encountered in the stone and ceramic tile industry and how to avoid them. Four main areas are covered:

  • Hazard recognition
  • Common areas of complacency
  • Best management practices
  • Available resources

Mike Loflin, Industry Research & Information Manager at MIA said: “This webinar is a new way for MIA to promote safety best practices in the natural stone industry. Companies can access the webinar at any time and use it for their ongoing employee safety training.” Carol Wilkins, Accreditation & Special Projects Manager agrees: “Safety is the most important topic in our industry, and the highest priority for MIA. In 2016, as MIA’s online education program continues to grow, we plan to feature topics such as workers compensation, ergonomics solutions (for fabricators and installers), and OSHA recordkeeping.”

In addition to “No Place for Complacency: Keep Safety Active,” the webinar “Introduction to Google Analytics,” presented by Christine Whittemore of Simple Marketing Now is also available. As MIA’s online education program grows, more webinars will be added to the bookstore. For more information, please visit www.marble-institute.com/webinars.
