FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLEVELAND, OH, April 23, 2010 — The Marble Institute of America is conducting one of the latest and most complete surveys it has ever undertaken of the natural stone industry in the U.S. The association has announced that orders for its 2010 International Survey of the Natural Stone Industry are now being taken at a pre-publication, discounted price.

The timely survey of industry trends based on the current economic environment will be supported by face-to-face interviews conducted at one of the world's larger international stone exhibitions, Coverings 2010 in Orlando, Fl. The survey is a joint project of MIA and the Hudson Economics Group, Ltd., of Hudson, Ohio, which has performed other studies of the industry over recent years, including a 2005 study of the same nature.

"In these tough economic times, this survey will identify current trends and future opportunities for companies in the stone business and those supplying the industry," said Gary Distelhorst, executive vice president and CEO of MIA.

"Based on the hundreds of interviews we expect to complete in Orlando, the end result will be a good analytical look at the U.S. natural stone market," said Lloyd Henry, managing partner of the Hudson Economics Group. Henry said the report should be available in late May or early June.

Survey topics will include best practices for building a stone business in the current economic environment, best geographic areas for doing business, the current competitive keys to success, how stone companies are currently performing against the competition, and much more.

The price for the survey is $500, but MIA members, as well as others ordering it prior to June 1, 2010, will receive a $100 discount. The survey can be ordered on the MIA website — www.marble-institute.com — or by calling the institute at 440-250-9222.

For over 65 years the Marble Institute of America (MIA) has been the world's leading information resource and advocate for the natural dimension stone industry. MIA members include marble, granite, limestone, sandstone, and other natural stone producers and quarriers, fabricators, installers, distributors, and contractors around the world.
