FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oberlin, OH, April 17, 2026 — The Natural Stone Institute (NSI) is nearing 20 years of its Accreditation Program, which helps stone fabrication and installation companies demonstrate their commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.

The Natural Stone Institute Accreditation Program was developed to evaluate fabrication and installation companies across key areas including compliance with OSHA regulations, quality control procedures, sound business practices, expertise and capabilities, and customer service track record. Through the program, companies undergo a thorough review of their operations, processes, and abilities to ensure they exceed established industry standards.

Today, the program includes 98 accredited fabricators and 23 accredited commercial installers, providing strong national coverage. For commercial contractors, this means critical mass is available across the United States, with multiple accredited companies represented in each region. This presence helps support project teams in maintaining specifications through bidding and final contractor selection.

The value of accreditation is also recognized at the specification level. Currently, 1,457 commercial project specifications include requirements for Natural Stone Institute Accreditation; reinforcing its role as a trusted standard across the design and construction community.

This growing adoption is translating directly into business impact for accredited companies:

"We've gotten opportunities that we wouldn't have had if we weren't accredited. I told the team, we got this job because of our accreditation with the Natural Stone Institute."

"In the first few months after gaining accreditation, we saw more second looks on our estimates and a much-needed uptick in commercial opportunities for natural stone."

As industry focus on silica safety and regulatory compliance continues to increase, the Natural Stone Institute is welcoming new companies into the Accreditation Program. Accredited companies can move forward with confidence, knowing they are aligned with rigorous safety expectations and best practices. The program provides comprehensive guidance and review processes that support proper silica control measures, helping protect employees and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.

The Natural Stone Institute continues to encourage fabrication and installation companies to pursue accreditation to strengthen their businesses, support safe work environments, and promote professionalism across the natural stone industry.
