Archive and History of the Pinnacle Awards

History

Originally established in 1999 by the Marble Institute of America, Project Awards recognized the finest in design, execution and craftsmanship using nature's own building material. In 2002, this award was renamed the Pinnacle Award which included two levels of award distinction –Award of Merit and Award of Excellence.  In 2017, as the Marble Institute of America and Building Stone Institute began an association merger, the Award of Merit was discontinued and the Pinnacle Award of Excellence remains as the primary designation within this program. A Grande Pinnacle Award is given to the best overall project in all categories.
